The short version

  • When you join the early access list, we collect your email address.
  • We use your email to send early access invites, launch news and, after launch, occasional updates and offers about Card Tab.
  • We never sell, rent or trade your information.
  • The site remembers which buttons you've tried so it can stop showing hints. That's saved only in your own browser. We don't see it, collect it or store it.
  • In the Card Tab app, your account is your email address (and your name, if you sign in with Google). Your card entries are saved to your account so they show up on every device you use.
  • The app uses one cookie, only to keep you signed in. No ad trackers.
  • You can unsubscribe, delete your account in the app, or ask us to delete your information at any time.

This policy explains how Card Tab ("Card Tab," "we," "us") handles information collected through cardtab.app, including the early access list. If you have questions, email us at hello@cardtab.app.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you join the early access list, we collect your email address. That's the only thing you give us.

Information sent along with your sign-up. We also record the date and time you signed up and which website address you signed up on, so we know when people joined.

Technical information. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider processes basic technical details, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don't use these details to identify you.

Protecting the sign-up form. To keep automated abuse off the early access list, the sign-up form checks each submission before it is added. It limits how many attempts can come from one network address in a short time, and it keeps a scrambled, one-way version of each email address and network address so the same person can't join more than once. These scrambled versions can't be turned back into your email address, and we use them for nothing else. Using an assistant or automated tool to sign up on your behalf is fine.

What we don't do. This site doesn't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics, and we don't set cookies. Your browser saves a few small notes on your own device, described in the next section. They stay on your device and aren't sent to us. The live demo runs entirely in your browser with sample data: anything you type or tap in it, including the search and Ask boxes, isn't sent to us.

How the site adapts to you

To keep things simple, the site remembers a few small details in your browser, like which buttons and demo entries you've tried and whether you've joined the early access list. It uses them to time small visual hints, and to stop showing a hint once you've used that feature or joined.

This stays on your device. We don't collect it, it isn't tied to your name or email, and it isn't shared with anyone. You can clear it any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, and private browsing windows start fresh.

If this changes, for example if we start collecting anonymous usage counts, we'll update this page first and tell you what we collect and why.

How we use your information

We won't send you emails about other companies' products.

We never sell your data

We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers. Your information is owned and controlled by Card Tab.

We only share it with service providers that help us run Card Tab, and only as needed for that purpose. For example:

These providers may only use your information to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it. If Card Tab is ever sold or merged with another company, your information would only be transferred under the protections of this policy, and we'd let you know.

How we keep it secure

Your information is stored in accounts controlled only by Card Tab, and access is limited to the people who run Card Tab. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect yours.

Unsubscribing and your choices

Depending on where you live, such as California, the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have additional privacy rights. We'll honor those requests too. Just email us.

How long we keep it

We keep your information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we no longer need it for the purposes above.

Children

Card Tab isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has joined our list, email us and we'll delete it.

The Card Tab app

This section covers the Card Tab app at app.cardtab.app.

Your account. You sign in with your email address or with Google. There are no passwords. If you use email, we send you a sign-in link and a 6-digit code. If you use Google, Google shares your name and email address with us, and nothing else is used. We never see your Google password. We keep your email address, your name (if Google shares it), when you joined, when you last signed in, and your plan (Free or Premium).

Staying signed in. When you sign in, the app sets one cookie that keeps you signed in on that device for 30 days. It's needed for the app to work and isn't used for tracking or advertising. We store only a scrambled, one-way version of it. Sign-in links and codes work once, expire after 15 minutes, and are stored only in scrambled form.

Your card entries. The purchases and sales you log (card names, prices, fees, shipping, platforms, dates, notes), plus your budget, custom platforms and notification choices, are saved on your device and in your Card Tab account, so they're the same on every device you sign in on. They're stored with our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and only you can see them. We use them only to run Card Tab for you: to show your totals, make your Card Board and Card Stories, and count entries toward the Free plan's monthly limit. We never sell them or use them for advertising.

Finding cards. When you search for a card, the text you type (like a card name or number) is sent to our server and to our card data provider to find matching printings. Your name and email aren't sent with it. Card images come from public card catalogs, and we keep our own small copies so the app loads quickly.

Stories and sharing. Card Stories, Card Board images and videos are made on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share or save it yourself.

Payments. When Premium launches, payments will be handled by a payment provider. We won't see or store your full card number.

Deleting your account. In the app, go to Edit profile, then Delete account. That deletes your account, your saved entries and settings, and ends every sign-in right away, and clears what Card Tab saved on that device. Copies in our hosting provider's routine backups are removed within 30 days. You can export your entries first.

Who helps us run the app. Cloudflare hosts the app and its database and protects it from abuse. Google handles sign-in if you choose "Continue with Google." JustTCG provides card information. An email delivery service sends sign-in emails. Each may only use your information to provide its service to us.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we'll also let you know by email.
